An iPad? A "tablet"? Do I take that with water?

Tablet?  iPad?  What exactly are those?

An "iPad" used to be something we'd put on a sore eye, but spelled as "eye pad".  And a "tablet" was once only known to be a flat slab or plaque bearing an inscription, but then became better known as something we take with a glass of water.  But now? A tablet is a mobile computing device that has a flat, rectangular form like a magazine or pad of paper, that is usually controlled by means of a touch screen, and that is typically used for accessing the Internet, watching videos, playing games, and reading electronic books?  Wowzers!

The main difference between an iPad and a Tablet is branding, with a few functional differences.  The iPad is the brand name for Apple's line of tablets (there's another one .. wasn't "Apple" once known only to be a fruit and not a company?  Geesh!).  The Tablet is a broader term and is more of a touch-screen format than the iPad.

With a little practice, learning how to use your Tablet can be as easy as .. well .. taking one with a glass of water!
